“A goal is a dream with a deadline.” Napoleon Hill
Lately, I’ve seen a lot of bloggers talking about goals they have accomplished doing the 101 in 1001 challenge. My interest was piqued to say the least, since I am a list maker at heart! I loved the idea.
I thought easy, I can make a list in two seconds as there is so much I want to do! I liked the idea of 1001 days as it made it seem more “now” instead of a “bucket” list which seems like more of a distant future. However, it was much harder than I originally thought. 101 items is a lot! It was quite the eye opener, gave me pause, made me excited, motivated and inspired!
It also gave me quality time with my teenage daughter as we discussed different possible goals. We spent time looking at things she has posted on her Pinterest boards that she wants to do and she suggested for my list. We had a lot of fun and had some good laughs about some of the ideas!
I’ve made a separate page on my blog above entitled 101 in 1001 days, however, since I just started today I’m adding it below for fun.
Start: May 13, 2013
End: February 8, 2016
The Challenge:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
Check out dayzeroproject.com for more ideas.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple challenges such as New Year’s resolutions or a ‘Bucket List’. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips, study semesters, or outdoor activities.
