Dow Gardens – Michigan

Recently, on a very hot day in July, my family and I were lucky enough to be able to go to Dow Gardens. In the middle of an industrial area was this beautiful oasis of nature, trees and flowers.

Dow Gardens

It was a beautiful park full of little animals running everywhere, birds, huge trees (at least to this Arizona gal), beautifully kept flower beds, unique bridges, and crazy scarecrows. We spent the better part of a day here walking around, taking photographs, resting on the peaceful benches when we were tired. In this heat we were tired quite often! About half way thru our visit, we took a break outside of the gardens and had a little snack of popcorn, pringles, gatorade, water and apples! We sat on the edge of a hill and relaxed on the grass. We laughed constantly and enjoyed life.

The children’s garden at this particular oasis was surrounded by scarecrows keeping guard!

Kinda creepy scarecrows!

The rose garden was beautiful, although the poor roses were being eaten alive by the beetles. One poor gentleman working had the job of trying to put as many beetles in a bucket as possible. Not a job for me!

Besides all the beautiful plants in the garden there were quite a few wonderful sculptures throughout the garden. Here are just a few…

The only thing that could have made our visit better would be a tall iced tea!

I was so happy to be able to add another garden to my list and it did not disappoint. If you are ever in the area please try and check it out!
