Dia De Los Muertos Celebration

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun? ~Kahlil Gibran, from “The Prophet”

This Fall the hubby and I went to the Dia De Los Muertos Celebration at the Desert Botanical Gardens.

Ofrenda, or Offering, the traditional Mexican celebration of Dia de Los Muertos, is created to remember the dead and to honor ancestors.

The artwork at this installation was great. Artwork to me makes you feel something, happy, sad, angry, cheerful, scared, joyful, spiritual or in awe. All of these pieces evoked a response.

I can only imagine how these pieces of art would have looked in the precession…

We had a great time, saw some thought provoking artwork and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I would definitely recommend the celebration!

P.S. I’m not sure why my photography’s are coming up scrunched occasionally. If that happens for you if you click one of the pics and the arrow backwards they should all show up okay. Working on getting this fixed.

Until next time, LAF
