Recently when driving in Ohio I came across a beautiful rose garden in an unknown neighborhood along the lake. It had just poured rain and since I had the time, I pulled over to take some photos of the gorgeous roses.
Whenever I get the opportunity to take some photographs, especially when alone, it lifts my spirits and lightens my heart.
To be honest I almost peed my pants when I saw the above gentleman standing under the archway, I hurriedly snapped a photo and it is one of my favorite pics of my whole trip. I get that not everyone sees the beauty in it, but it speaks to me and the peace I felt in that space at that time.
Shortly after getting out of my car a few car loads of Krishnas pulled up with the same idea. I don’t know if they lived in the area, but they came equipped with cameras, iPhones and iPads. We briefly exchanged comments on the refreshing rain and the amazing roses and then left each other to the quiet.
It was like the cherry on top of the cake, their beautiful robes set amongst the roses, kindred spirits in a freshly washed rose garden.
.
Once in my car I had to take one last pic and look up on my own iPhone what I could learn about the Krishna.
International Society for Krishna Consciousness – a religious sect founded in the United States in 1966; based on Vedic scriptures; groups engage in joyful chanting of `Hare Krishna’ and other mantras based on the name of the Hindu god Krishna; devotees usually wear saffron robes and practice vegetarianism and celibacy.
Until next time, keep an open mind, LAF
