“Spring passes and one remembers one’s innocence. Summer passes and one remembers one’s exuberance. Autumn passes and one remembers one’s reverence. Winter passes and one remembers one’s perseverance.” – Yoko Ono
This fall/winter’s other exhibit at the Desert Botanical Gardens is Philip Haas Four Seasons. It is an amazing piece of artwork. As you go around the trail at the gardens you come upon the four towering sculptures of Autumn, Summer, Spring and Winter. I definitely need to go back a few times and get some better photos of winter.
The gardens website describes the exhibit as: The Four Seasons are four monumental, earthy and exuberant sculptures that will delight your eyes. The sculptures are inspired by Italian Renaissance artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo’s painting series The Four Seasons. Arcimboldo’s imaginative portraits were whimsical, puzzle-like paintings composed of fruits, vegetables, flowers and related objects.
I definitely recommend looking up the paintings while seeing the sculptures – they are truly amazing.
Wow, that is so neat!
Fantastic!
